Rachel Corrie: The Little Liberal Girl that Couldn’t
Many people have heard of Rachel Corrie, the 23 year old American Peace Activist who was killed by an Israeli Defense Force (IDF) armoured bulldozer.
She appeared to have been killed while protesting against the destruction of Palestinian homes by the IDF in the Gaza Strip. However the details surrounding what she was doing and how she died are heavily disputed. The Israeli Military says that based on their investigation that her death appeared to be an accident, however the Rachel’s group, the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) insists that Corrie was deliberately run over.
I say that this was a case of an ultra-liberal, tree hugger playing chicken with an armoured Caterpillar D9 bulldozer and losing.
In the movie above Rachel Corrie makes Israel appear to be the aggressor and oppressor, but in fact during the time Corrie was in Gaza the Palestinian terror war against Israel had just entered it’s 30th month. Of the 1,700 Palestinians killed, 53% were known combatants, and another 17% were killed by other Palestinians, leaving a 30% civilian casualty rate. However, of the 650 Israelis killed, over 82% were civilians.
Corrie had a history of promoting anti-Israel, anti-American rhetoric, there are numerous photos out there of her playing in traffic and burning the American flag. She was killed promoting the Palestinian terrorists’ murderous campaign against Israel by obstructing Israeli efforts to destroy tunnels used to smuggle weapons and explosives from Egypt to refugee camps inside Rafah on the Gaza Strip.
The bulldozer she was trying to stop was part of an operation to eliminate tunnels used by Palestinian terrorists to illegally smuggle weapons and explosives from Egypt into Gaza.
The photos show Corrie standing atop a mound of dirt as the bulldozer approaches, but then falling backwards, tumbling down the mound and out of sight. The bulldozer continued and accidentally crushed her with it’s blade. She was never run over.
The autopsy claimed that Rachel Corrie died of major head and chest injuries, however in the picture below she does not appear to have major head or chest injuries. She was said to complain about her broken back.
Actual video footage from the Israeli Defense Forces video shows the real circumstances under which the terrorist loving anarchist died; knee-deep in a trench in the middle of dirt in an open dirt field protecting a smuggling tunnel. The left arrow on the photo below points to the tractor, the right arrow shows the kneeling Rachel Corrie.
The video also shows that the soldiers repeatedly warned demonstrators to keep a safe distance.
Rachel Corrie was a volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement. She was known for anti-Israel and anti-American activities, such as the photo above of Corrie burning an American flag in front of a group of small Palestinian children. I guess she’s teaching them *proper values* at a young age.
The Washington Post makes two important points:
1) The soldiers driving the armored bulldozer have limited visibility because of the narrow windows.
2) One of the ISM founders admits that the protesters might not have been as disciplined in their protest as they should have been and were too close to the bulldozer.
Most media reports fail to mention that the IDF bulldozer was looking for smuggling tunnels. Instead, the reports described the bulldozer trying to tear down a house sympathetically known as “the home of a Gazan pharmacist”. The entire mainstream media also neglected to mention Corrie’s anti-American activities and flag-burning.
It is also known that Joseph Smith from the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) faked the photo below to make it seem like Rachel was protecting a house rather than terrorist smuggling tunnels. Below they outline some of the issues with this photo that proved that this photo was a fake.
A full investigation conducted by a branch of the Israeli judiciary concluded that Rachel Corrie, who was in a closed military zone and interfering with IDF operational activities, was killed by accident.
“The driver at no point saw or heard Corrie,” a military source said. “She was standing behind debris which obstructed the view of the driver and the driver had a very limited field of vision due to the protective cage he was working in.”
“The driver and his commanders were interrogated extensively over a long period of time with the use of polygraph tests and video evidence. They had no knowledge that she was standing in the path of the tractor. An autopsy of Corrie’s body revealed that the cause of death was from falling debris and not from the tractor physically rolling over her,” the sources state.
“It was a tragic accident that never should have happened,” the source said.
“The International Solidarity Movement, to which Corrie belonged, was directly responsible for illegal behavior and conduct in the area of Corrie’s death and their actions directly led to this tragedy,” the source concluded. (Jerusalem Post)

I agree with these statements, it appeared that Rachel Corrie and the other protesters were clearly interfering with IDF operations in a military zone. The operator of the bulldozer accidentally killed her because she was too close to the machine. This same thing might have happened if she was standing too close to a bulldozer at any regular construction site. Construction workers frequently get killed by accident while working around heavy construction equipment and I feel that something similar happened with Rachel Corrie.
Rachel Corrie was still alive at the time that she was brought to a Palestinian hospital, Najar hospital in Rafah. However, the hospital’s director, Dr. Ali Moussa, stated that “Corrie was already dead from massive head and chest injuries by the time she arrived”.
Rachel Corrie was accidentally killed in Gaza when she stood on top of a mound of dirt as a bulldozer was destroying tunnels used by Palestinian terrorists to illegally smuggle weapons and explosives from Egypt into Gaza. She fell backwards, down the mound, and the bulldozer’s blade accidentally hit her. She was NOT acting as a ‘human shield’ to prevent targeted houses being demolished. Rafah is a border crossing where Palestinians regularly dig tunnels to smuggle arms. The IDF was there to destroy these tunnels, some of which end inside houses, and those houses were destroyed with the tunnels.
The media show angelic photos of Rachel Corrie rather than a more truer picture of who she was, which one can easily find on the internet of her holding an assault rifle or burning an American Flag among a group of small Palestinian children. Her face was the face of a hate-filled fanatic.
Most media reports omit the following:
a) Corrie was a member of the radical ISM well known for their anti-Israel and anti-American activities, including providing food and aid to terrorists, flag burning, and resistance.
b) The soldiers repeatedly warned demonstrators to keep a safe distance.
b) One of the ISM founders admits the protesters might not have been as disciplined in their protest as they should have been and may have been too close to the bulldozer.
If you do not keep a safe distance from bulldozers at work, there is a chance you might be injured or killed. She did, and she was.
Important Points:
a) The bulldozer was NOT demolishing houses
b) The bulldozer was excavating tunnels dug to smuggle arms and explosives to murder innocent people.
c) The pictures and the story shown by Reuters are a scam, they were taken elsewhere, not at the Rafa site, and not before the accident.
d) The issue of Rachel Corrie being a hate-filled antisemite is relevant to this incident.
e) Israel and the IDF have been unfairly and maliciously maligned, and I have both a duty of care, and a right to challenge injustice and present the facts.

1. - When has it been Anti-American to protest? - The American nation was born and founded in revolution. The first Americans, including the founders, were, for the time, considered “extreme radicals, rebels” and “terrorists.”

There does not exist, to my knowledge, one video where protesters were warned vocally. However, many videos exist –some quite lengthy, where Rachel is in front of the Bulldozer as it approaches. These videos, some as long as 10 minutes, have sound and yet no warnings can be heard.
2. a) “The bulldozer was NOT demolishing houses.” — While this is possible in this case it does not however change the fact that the main use of ‘Bulldozer’s’ are for the destruction of residential and industrial structures. - To claim that these bulldozers are only used to cover tunnels would mean that every bulldozer video ever made, whether from the middle east or elsewhere, has been faked. — Obviously you are swinging at air here.
3. “The pictures and the story shown by Reuters are a scam, they were taken elsewhere, not at the Rafa site, and not before the accident.” —- This is very hard to believe seeing that Reuters is a major media organ and would be liable to all sorts of lawsuits if they ‘faked’ the images. — Please provide your verified source that these images have been falsified, such as a notice of errata by Reuters et al.
4. The issue of Rachel Corrie being a hate-filled antisemite is relevant to this incident. — There is no basis for this claim. There is no evidence that Miss Corrie hated Jewish or Arab peoples. - Remember Arabs are Semites and you have a picture of her surrounded by Semitic peoples (Arabs) — Unless, of course, you’re saying that this to was photoshopped. — If it was then why use it?
It’s hard to make the claim that one is anti-Semitic when surrounded by and living with Semitic peoples.

I called my Congress person on this issue — according to him you are a bald faced liar. - There is no record of this group providing any aid to terrorists, their resistance is non-violent and an enshrined right in the U.S constitution by way of Free Speech and Petition for redress. - Flag burning is not now, and has never been, considered a criminal act in the U.S for, again, the 1st amendment. (U.S founders burned Union Jacks/British flags.) — And really, does the burning of a flag warrant the death of an individual? No, in fact that sort of mentality is what you would find in a third world dictatorship.
P.S — I find it quite odd that besides a cartoon draw up of the supposed “tunnels” we have yet to see one video of these tunnels — inside or out.
Perhaps you would be so kind as to post a blog on these tunnels and provide actual data - such as documents, video and photographs supporting their existence. — You can also then explain how these tunnels are re-enforced so that they do not collapse without the aid of modern machinery. —- I mean massive tunnels right under military installations! Regarding your refutations of the article above (which incidentally failed to mention it was I and Stop the ISM who proved she was not protecting a house and that photos were faked by Joseph Smith.
Reuters did retract the photos after they were contacted by journalist David Bedein who pointed out they were faked. Ms. Corrie was nowhere near a house when she was killed, but was in a trench. The ISM had been implicated in aiding terrorist attacks, notably the Mike’s Place bombing in Tel Aviv. Its leadership has praised suicide bombers as did Rachel Corrie.

Why would anyone need a oral warning that a bulldozer is coming?
I mean Corrie was not blind, and she was not inside a protective cage, so she clearly COULD see that the dozer was coming. It was her choice to commit suicide.
Interestingly, the Arab people she was staying with night before her death reported that when she was going on her last mission she was taking uncharacteristically long with her farewells. They said that she kept hugging them and acting as if it was the last time she was going to see them. As it turned out it was the last time. Could it be that Corrie knew she was going to die? Could it be that she intended to die?
Another question is that perhaps she died because of the terrible negligence of the Palestinian Arab doctors. Her injuries did not appear lethal on the initial videos. Her chest and head were no crushed either. Very strange indeed. And I would not completely rule out the possibility that Hamas, and their affiliated ISM terrorist gave orders to the doctors to let her die. Without any question Corrie’s death was million times more valuable to them then her life.
Her death has been a MAJOR win for the Hamas and all haters of Israel. Islamic Hamas are Islamist fanatics. They have no more love of American liberals then for Christians. As long as liberals and Christians are useful, Islamists will use them. However in this case a dead Corrie was MUCH more valuable to their cause than when she was alive.

And this one was not a “work accident”. There was a situation there, and it was impossible for the driver not to see the event that was going on there. If you think for one second that the BS about Rachel Corrie being killed accidentally is accepted around the world, then your country is deluded. The world knows, through so much independent reporting via the relatively new media of the internet and others, exactly what is going on wrt Israel and its conduct in the Holy Land.
Further, you dismiss this courageous peace activist as a tree hugger, a liberal, a this and that and the other. Who are you to ajudge that she got a fitting death?
While you give a 30% civilian casualty rate to IDF actions, and a 70% rate to Palestinian actions, are not all Israelis over the age of 17 part of the reserve forces, and are required to maintain arms in their homes? In September 1970, King Hussein of Jordan sent his 60th Armored Brigade to attack the headquarters of a Palestinian organization in Amman, including Palestinian camps in Irbid, Salt, Sweileh, Baq’aa, Wehdat and Zarqa. Yasser Arafat claimed that the Jordanian army killed between 10,000 and 25,000 Palestinians, with the survivors being pushed out of the country for good. This action followed the PFLP’s (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine) repeated attempts to assassinate the king, and the hijacking of four airliners belonging to Swiss Air, Pan AM, TWA and BOAC.
In 1982, the Syrian army shelled the Palestinian city of Hama, killing up to 40,000 Palestinians, mostly men, women and children. The Palestinians were In 1982 the Syrian government killed 30,000 – 40,000 of its own citizens. Assad leveled an entire city with an air bombardment followed by artillery and tank fire. Why? They were anti Baath party, and apparently in 1982 in Syria that was a death sentence. Those who tried to flee the carnage were simply shot by the Syrian army. Survivors later told how they were made to stand over pits full of charred bodies and shot, Nazi style.
In 1991, Kuwait expelled over 400,000 Palestinians through an open act of brutal ethnic cleansing after Arafat and the PLO sided with Saddam Hussein after the first Gulf War.
As of July 2010, Egypt has partially lifted its own blockade of Gaza at Rafar, which has been in effect since 2007, to allow humanitarian and medical aid into the Gaza Strip, yet still WITH RESTRICTIONS on what kinds of supplies can enter. The Egyptians were candid enough to admit that (A) they hate the Palestinians as much as the Israelis do (B) they don’t want any Palestinian refugees in their country, and (C) they hate the israelis and would rather have any supplies go through them into Gaza.
So much for “brotherhood” among Arabs!
Yet no protests were ever made against Egypt. I wonder why? Where was the outraged international media, the UN “emergency” meetings and the hordes of “peace’ activists when the above atrocities were committed?

So, let’s look at the facts about Israel. This is a country that was founded in 1947, long after most Arab nations were established, and with their own clearly defined boundaries. It is the only true democracy in the region and with a far better record on human rights than ANY of its Arab neighbours. For example, you can have your gay “pride” parade in Israel, but try to do that in any Arab country, even the Gaza strip, and you will be hanged or stoned to death, guaranteed. This one reason why groups like “Queers for Palestine” are a complete joke. Israel is smaller than Lake Michigan, or if you like, only 1/19th the size of California, and has a population of only 7.3 million people, but with a thriving economy and a First World standard of living. Approximately 75.4% of the population are Jews, with 20.3% identified as Arabs, and the remainder are classed as “other,” meaning a mixture of largely western residents.
In 2006, the official number of Arab residents in Israel was 1,413,500 people. About 98% of East Jerusalem Palestinians has either Israeli residency or Israeli citizenship. Imagine Palestine giving a Jew “citizenship” with the right to live peacefully and run a thriving business?
Most Arab citizens of Israel are Muslim, particularly of the Sunni branch of Islam, and there is a significant Arab Christian minority from various denominations, among other religious communities. There is a growing Arab middle class, particularly in Galilee, where many are judges, lawyers and wealthy independent business people. What is most interesting to note is that the Arab citizens of Israel include the Druze, who were numbered at an estimated 117,500 at the end of 2006. All of the Druze living in what was then British Mandated Palestine became Israeli citizens after the declaration of the State of Israel. This condradicts much of the propaganda that asserts that the Arab population of the region was “pushed out” after the establishing of the new state of Israel.
Though some individuals identify themselves as “Palestinian Druze”, most Druze do not consider themselves to be Palestinian, and consider their Israeli identity stronger than their Arab identity; indeed, Druze serve prominently in the Israel Defense Forces, and are represented in mainstream Israeli politics and business as well, unlike Muslim Arabs who, not surprisingly, are not required to serve in the Israeli military and choose not to anyway.
Contrast this to Israels sworn enemies, which comprises of 22 Arab states covering an area 640 times greater than Israel, with a combined population 300 million Arabs. And those 300 million Arabs are part of a total of 1.4 BILLION Muslims world-wide who never cease to accuse Israel of being an “expansionist” state! How can Israel, which occupies one-sixth of one percent of the all land occupied by Arabs, be responsible for the political dissatisfaction of 22 Arab states with more land than they know what to do with? So all this talk of Israel giving up land for “peace” is absolute rubbish. Those 22 Arab states will never rest until Israel has been wiped off the face of this earth, and every last Jew is dead.
Remember, world-wide there are only 13 million Jews - 5 million less than there were in 1939!
Israel has constantly been under assault from Arab states in outright war, or via terrorism. At one point, the terrorist group Hamas was firing up to 500 rockets A DAY at “soft” targets from bases in Gaza and Lebanon. As of January 2009, over 8,600 rockets had been launched, leading to 28 deaths and several hundred injuries, as well as widespread psychological trauma and disruption of daily life. Most of the victims have been women and children, many suffering from horrific injuries, including loss of limbs.
The Israeli Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center estimated that in 2007 the proportions of rockets fired from the Gaza Strip were:
34% - Palestinian Islamic Jihad (Al Quds)
22% - Hamas (Qassam)
8% - Fatah (Kafah)
6% - Popular Resistance Committees (al Nasser)
30% - unknown
In 2006, Israel grew tired of the indifference of the Lebanese government concerning the number of rocket attacks by HAMAS from within the its own borders, and ordered the army to intervene. Once again the world shrieked in indignation over Israeli “aggression.” yet Lebanon, which possesses a 54,000 strong army, refused to intervene and stop the rocket attacks within its own borders.
More recently, the Israeli raid on six “aid” ships from Turkey again provoked hysteria from the “international community.” The ships in question were intercepted by the Israeli navy in international waters (which they have every right to do). The raid was simply to ensure that the ships were not ferrying weapons, explosives and ammunition to Gaza, considering that the Israeli army had destroyed most of the weapons smuggling tunnels that lead from Egypt into Gaza. As Israeli defence video clearly showed, the commandoes who dropped from a helicopter onto the deck of the Mavi Marmara were immediately attacked by “peace” activists brandishing metal bars, wooden clubs and other improvized weapons. This is in stark contrast to the claims of the activists on CNN that they used only their bare hands to resist the commandos when they landed on the Mavi Marmara. Several of the commandos were badly injured and could be seen being thrown from the upper deck of the ship by the activists. In the end, the commandos found that their paintball guns were insufficient to keep their attackers at bay, forcing them to draw their sidearms and opening fire on their attackers to protect themselves and their injured comrades.
Finally, I truly believe that God’s divine protection still covers Israel. What other explanation could possible suffice for this tiny nation’s survival?
